Co-edited with Marc Weller, this special issue was published in Ethnopolitics to mark the tenth anniversary of the Dayton Accords. Together with our contributors, we examine three levels of analysis—local, regional, international—and the relationships between them to examine the dynamics of state-building in Bosnia and Herzegovina. As a whole, this collection emphasises that while the experience of internationalized state-building in Bosnia and Herzegovina may in many ways be unique, it also offers important lessons for similar efforts conducted by the international community across quite a wide range of other cases.
